The work dwells into the defense mechanism of adolescents and children who some-times transform episodes of abuse and trauma into fantastic scenarios, specifically alien abductions and encounters with beings from space.
Taking as reference Mars Attack! (1996), the Tim Burton movie, Gómez López recreates his own head as if it had been dissected from his body thanks to out-of-this-world techno-logy. His mouth full with apparently innocent stuffed animals that are actually queer-coded, phallic characters that represent dislikes and moments of childhood transition.The artist represents himself being suffocated by these nostalgic memories that far from promised innocence become symbols of some of the emotional problems we face in our present.
