La heteropiedra es el aerolito que decretó el cataclismo, la piedra venida del espacio exterior que traía escrita la palabra extinción en su golpeada, candente superficie. Explotó en los cielos del Cretáceo antes de irse a enterrar bajo el agua, frente a la calcárea meseta yucateca.

Es esa huella, ese sepulcro, la pared, el talud, la muralla, el acantilado.

Es, la heteropiedra, la roca amarrada con mecate al cuello del suicida que mira el vacío con horror y quiere llenarlo, el zócalo dónde se levanta el acotado espacio del ring en el cuál dos golpeadores se deshacen brutalmente. Es la lápida que pesada cae sobre este moridero y la que sella la fosa de la gran sala hetero donde en las pantallas se asiste a desprovistos rituales.. Es la piedra donde escriben sus leyes. Es la piedra donde estallan los deseos: es la laja que pisan apresurados, la lista que pergeñan, los lugares comunes en los que no se puede volar.

El que esté libre de pecado, dijo el Señor, una vez, hace mucho y ahorita, que tire la primera [hetero] piedra.

Parece sólida, a menos que se desgrane. Parece pesada. Aunque se tiran piedras, y ruedan o caen con estrépito, es cuasi inmóvil. Está ahí. A veces es humo, tóxico, porque a veces puede licuarse, destilarse, comprimirse: aveces es sólo piedra.

Por eso son pintadas. Por eso hay manos y bisontes y símbolos y serpientes y vulvas y falos y soles y constelaciones pintadas. Y brujxs y personas no humanas. Por eso se visten o se les derrama leche o se las cubre deflores o se las talla o se las pule; por eso el liquen crepita en sus hendiduras y el musgo se acomoda húmedamente. Por eso se cubren de telas sagradas en las festividades o se las guarda en cajas negras o se pinta con cinabrio y carbón la piedra.

The heterostone is the meteorite that decreed the cataclysm, the stone that came from outer space with the word extinction written on its beaten, red-hot surface. It exploded in the Cretaceous skies before burying itself underwater, in front of the calcareous Yucatecan plateau.

It is the footprint, the tomb, the wall, the slope, the rampart, the cliff.

The heterostone is the rock tied with rope around the suicidal neck, while they look at the void with horror, wanting to fill it. It is the plinth with limited space for a boxing ring in which two punchers brutally undo. It is the heavy tombstone that falls on this valley of death, sealing the grave of the great hetero room where one attends unprovided rituals on screens. It is the stone where they write their laws. It is the stone where desires explode: it is the slab that they step on in a hurry, the list that they draw up, the common place where one cannot fly.

He who is without sin, the Lord said, once long ago and now again, can cast the first [hetero] stone.

It appears solid, unless shelled. It looks heavy. Although stones are thrown, and they roll or fall with a crash, it is almost immobile. It’s just there. Sometimes it becomes smoke and it’s toxic, because it can be liquefied, distilled, com-pressed: other times it is just a stone.

That is the reason they are painted. That’s why there are hands and bison and symbols and snakes and vulvas and phalluses and suns and constellations drawn upon them. And witches and non-human people. That is why they are dressed or we pour milk on them or shower them with flowers. That’s why they are carved or polished; why the lichen crackles in its crevices and the moss settles moistly. That is why they are covered with sacred cloths in festivities or kept in black boxes, painted with cinnabar and charcoal.
